Here I’ll share with you the sampling process of getting your designs made into real-life garments, and the key steps involved! These are the necessary steps to getting your clothing line produced and starting your own fashion label!

How to Get Your Fashion Designs Manufactured in 10 Easy Steps
Step 1: Illustrate your designs in a ‘flat’ 2d illustration
Step 2: Compile a ‘Tech Pack’ or ‘Spec Sheet’ with construction details of your garment, including the fabric you would like
Step 3: Patterns are made by a Patternmaker ( either a freelance pattern maker or one who works for the manufacturer.)
Step 4: Request a ‘1st Prototype’ or 1st sample of your design in a similar plain fabric to test the pattern and the fit.
Step 5: Make fit comments on your prototype, and approve the fabric.
Step 6: Request a second sample in the correct fabric with the correct trims.
Step 7: Receive the Second Sample or 2nd Prototype and check the quality, fit and sizing. Make any changes or comments on your second sample, and if approved, proceed to making your ‘bulk’ manufacturing order ( If you are going to produce it to sell.)
Step 8: Give you ‘Bulk’ order to your manufacturer with the sizes and qty you want.
Step 9: Photograph your sample and upload images to your website, ready for when the production arrives.
Step 10: Receive production and send your item listing live!
